Fred was Christopher's sponsor and as such is responsible for a lifetime of teaching for young Christoper. Fred took the role very seriously so he decided to throw Christoper a pool party on Sunday.
Here is a picture of Fred and Chrsitopher, right after the Confirmation mass was complete. Niamh did an incredible job singing in the choir.
The Murphy family and grannie, Mrs. Sheraley freezing outside the church.
We had hoped for some of the wonderful 90 degree weather we had during the week but the weather gods did not prevail and we had to suffer the indignity of 68 degree weather (considered a heatwave in Ireland and New Zealand).
As always, the Americans were first to arrive. John and Merie came well wrapped up for the winter chill.
Nu was in a particularly social mood, here he can be seen hanging out by the food.
Adrian was the only person brave enough to go in the pool for the pool party. They just don't make them that tough anymore.
Grainne and I hung out at the bar and drank while Adrian swam.
Later afternoon the sun came out and the ladies took a tour of the rose garden. We have the best roses this year, thanks to the non-stop rain all winter. We looked like an outing of the Irish Countrywomen's Association.
Debra, Merie and me hanging out
Prasad and Sisira did garden patrol in the vegetable gardnes. As always Sisira looked like a china doll in her beautiful satin dress.
As Fred has taken his mentor role very seriously, he decied to introduce Christopher to an onother initiation rite of passage - barbaque patrol.
Christopher was a keen learner and took in every word the Barbeque Bullie had to say.
OMG!!! Is he toouching Fred's sacred spot.
Mrs Shearley, Niamh, Debra and Sisira haning out by the pool.
You Sidart decided it was his turn to get BBQ lessons too.
The food was marvelous, the kids enjoyed a picnic on the lawn
The grown-ups enjoyed dinner by the pool
Ginger and Blondie couldn't understand why they weren't invited to the party, so they gate crashed anyway.
The desserts were exquisite, Chocolate, Chocolate and more Chocolate.
At the end of the night everyone was tired, full and contented. A wonderful Confirmation celebration.
